RACE REPORT | MotoGP Netherlands 2024

Francesco Bagnaia dominated the Dutch Grand Prix in Assen after having an absolutely perfect weekend.

The Ducati team's Francesco Bagnaia put in an absolutely dominant performance in Saturday's sprint and in Sunday's race, which he started from pole position.

The two-time world champion won in start-finish style and, thanks to the win, he closed the gap in the standings to Jorge Martin to 10 points.

Martin finished second in Assen after losing less than four seconds to the winner.

"I enjoyed very much everything, all the weekend was perfect," Bagnaia said after the race. "We were very precise and very fast and the weather was fantastic, so we had the possibility to put our pace down. Everything went perfectly," added Italian rider.

Third place went to Enea Bastianini in the Netherlands, who started from 10th place.

Marc Marquez originally finished fourth, but the Spaniard was penalised after the race for a technical infringement (he failed to follow the tyre pressure rules) and dropped out of the top 10.

Fabio Di Giannantonio and Maverick Viñales rounded out the top five.
